YATES CYLINDERS TIMELINE

1972

In the spring of 1972, William H. Yates II founded Yates Industries Incorporated, a distributor of fluid power products and a repair facility for the fluid power industry. In early 1975, the Yates Cylinder Division was created to provide heavy-duty N.F.P.A cylinders to our local customers, and by the late 1970's, our cylinder line expanded to include medium-duty hydraulic and steel pneumatic products.

1985

By the mid 1980's, the Yates name had become synonymous with Quality Cylinder Repairs. Our Yates Cylinder lines were being distributed by an ever-growing international distributor network. To ensure our continued growth, Yates Industries purchased multiple state-of-the-art CNC machines. A short time later, we computerized our inventory control, accounting, purchasing, and sales processes to further increase production and shorten delivery times, for complete customer satisfaction.

1998

In 1998, Yates Industries purchased a 100,000+ square foot facility at 23050 Industrial Drive East, St. Clair Shores, Michigan, which allowed all three operating units to sit under one roof. This new facility allowed us to expand our engineering and manufacturing departments.

2007

In January 2007, we proudly announced the opening of our newest facility in Decatur, Alabama: Yates Industries South, LLC—specializing in servicing steel mills, as well as all our customers’ cylinder needs. Today, Yates Industries and the Yates Cylinder Division continue to grow to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers and the manufacturing industry.

2013

In the spring of 1972, William H. Yates II founded Yates Industries Incorporated, a distributor of fluid power products and a repair facility for the fluid power industry. In early 1975, the Yates Cylinder Division was created to provide heavy-duty N.F.P.A cylinders to our local customers, and by the late 1970's, our cylinder line expanded to include medium-duty hydraulic and steel pneumatic products.

2013

In 2013, 50,000 square feet of warehouse and manufacturing space was added to the Yates Industries' Michigan facility, opening up many new service opportunities. With the new facility in place, Yates is providing faster order fulfillment, smoother processes, and enhanced custom manufacturing capabilities. More cylinder repair operations are now performed at our Michigan location, allowing Yates Industries South to expand their custom hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder manufacturing capabilities.

2014

In 2014, Yates Industries continued their expansion into the Southeast by opening a third manufacturing plant in Austell, Georgia, complementing their existing facilities in Decatur, Alabama and Saint Clair Shores, Michigan. This plant has become vital to the future of Yates Industries, as the company continues to grow, not just geographically, but also in terms of customer satisfaction and product innovation.
